Sadly, there are some sad news about Dr. Phil.

Dr. Phil McGraw, the renowned host of the daytime talk show, is set to conclude his popular program after its 21st season in 2022-2023. Initially signing a five-year contract with CBS Media Ventures in 2018, the syndication company is expected to provide networks with the option to air pre-recorded episodes in the 2023-24 season. Dr. Phil reflected on his incredible 25-year journey in daytime television, expressing gratitude for the countless lives his show has touched. Addressing a wide array of issues, from mental health to parenting, addiction, and marriage, the show has left an indelible mark. Although he’s bidding farewell to daytime TV, Dr. Phil has ambitious plans for the future.

CBS Media Ventures has hinted at an upcoming “strategic primetime arrangement” that will amplify Dr. Phil’s influence on television and audiences, scheduled for launch next year. Driven by a commitment to the American family and core values, Dr. Phil aims to reach a broader audience, motivating this shift in focus. Alongside his daytime show, he’s been involved in producing scripted projects and hosting podcasts like Mystery & Murder: Analysis by Dr. Phil and Phil in the Blanks.

Dr. Phil’s illustrious career began in the 1990s with appearances on The Oprah Winfrey Show. Hosting over 4,000 shows, featuring over 20,000 guests, and receiving over 5 million viewer letters, his program has consistently drawn an average of 2 million viewers per episode, making it the second-most-watched talk show after Live with Kelly and Ryan. CBS Media Ventures President Steve LoCascio praised Dr. Phil’s enduring partnership and the impact he’s had on daytime television, expressing excitement about future collaborations.

Dr. Phil’s departure coincides with the conclusion of other popular daytime talk shows, signifying a significant transformation in the daytime TV landscape, including The Wendy Williams Show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Dr. Oz, and The Real.
