Nicky Maher, a mother from Somerset, Massachusetts, made a discreet video of her daughter’s babysitter. The video has now become popular for all the right reasons.

Delaney Wilson, an 18-year-old who looks after Maher’s child during work hours, is a gifted young woman with a captivating voice. However, she lacks confidence in her singing skills and is too timid to showcase them to the world.

Upon entering the room, Maher was immediately drawn to the enchanting sound of Disney’s song Part of Your World from The Little Mermaid. She felt compelled to capture that beautiful moment on video.

At the beginning of the recording, Maher whispered, “this is our babysitter.” As Maher quietly enters the room, Wilson, unaware of being filmed, starts singing with full force. Her voice becomes stronger and deeper, causing Maher to feel overwhelmed with emotions.

Maher revealed to Fox News that she had prior knowledge of the babysitter’s voice even before capturing it on film.

I was like, I want her to hear herself when she knows nobody’s watching. I was blown away to tears, cried the first time I heard her sing. So, I said Delaney, you have such an insane gift.” Maher wanted to know why Wilson didn’t sing as often and in front of other people. “That’s when she said to me, ‘I just overthink it and I never feel like I sound good enough and I just don’t always feel confident in the way I look,’” Maher explained. “And it just broke my heart.”

Maher inquired if Wilson had permission to share the video on TikTok, and Wilson gave her consent. Shortly after, the video went viral and attracted a large audience.

“It’s not that she didn’t know she had a talent that so many people have already told her she had,” Maher said. “It’s that she didn’t hear it without knowing she was trying or that someone was watching. So that’s why the video was so beautiful.”
